I haven’t got
around to writing yis for a long time, but I’ve been a very
busy grrlie! This “month’s” little rant is actually a
glossary of terms associated with all the junk I rabbit on about
in my notes to y’all. It’s important to state that none of
the definitions below are from any source but my own head and
are not written in stone. I promise something a little more
personal next time for the Pride “Diary…”
Til then,
*smooches*

Emma's Glossary:
Lesbian: A female homosexual. Woman who sleeps (more
or less) exclusively with other women. A woman loving
woman. Old meaning: A follower of Sappho, an ancient
Greek poetess who ran an artists colony for young
women on the Isle of Lesbos.
Bisexual: A person, male or female, who engages in sex
acts with both genders. (Actually the correct term is
ambisexual but no one uses it)
Gender dysphoria: The confusion which occurs when one
feels that the gender in your head is not the same as
the biological gender you were assigned at birth.
(Body dysphoria is similar and often relates to eating
disorders caused by a person's hatred of their
physical form not feeling "right")
Transsensual: A person of whatever gender who desires
those who are transgendered, intersexed, transsexual
or ID with a gender other then what they were born
with/as.
Femme: A hyperbolically (OTT) feminine person who
outwardly appears (mostly) female but feels more like
a Drag Queen trapped in a woman's body. May possess
more than the usual two X chromosomes)
Chromosomes: Male = XY Female = XX Intersex = XXY
Femme = XXX and so on…
Transgender/Transsexual: Persons who for one reason or
another choose to transition from one gender to
another, usually Male to Female (MTF) or Female to
Male (FTM), or who are in the process of doing so,
e.g. taking hormones and having breasts removed or
created (Top surgery). Bottom Surgery: Having a new
set of primary genitals surgically constructed. I.e. a
vagina, or a penis.
Hermaphrodite/Intersex condition: Thousands of babies
are born every year with intersex condition, meaning
that they are actually both male and female,
genetically and biologically. Unfortunately these
children are often assigned and socially conditioned
into one gender or the other - and it is often wrong!
Butch/Femme dynamic: Lesbian sexual dynamic that was
popular in the 1950's which was almost stamped out by
1970's lesbian feminist theory/politics because it was
seen as aping heterosexuality, i.e. Butches were seen
to want to be men and Femmes were buying into male
patriarchal society's beauty standards. (in this case
both butch and femme are used as descriptors for
lesbians, i.e. as adjectives, rather than as gender
identifications)
Binary Gender System: The common notion that there
are only two genders, male and female and that every
thing else is simply a mutation or perversion of these
two immutable facts.
BDSM: Bondage Domination Sado-Masochism. Basically any
kind of sex or sexual practice that involves power
exchange, role playing, giving and/or receiving pain,
water sports, kinky stuff, fetish etc, can come under
the umbrella heading of BDSM.
Bottom/Sub: A BDSM player who takes the submissive
role.
Top/Dom.: A BDSM player who assumes the dominant role.
Switch: A BDSM player who can alternate between Top
and Bottom in a given scenario.
Player: An individual who is known to engage in BDSM
acts/practices.
As for me personally, I ID as a HighFeMMe Transsensual
Bottom. Which means that I am extremely feminine
individual who does not ID as a woman or female by
gender and that I am sexually attracted to
transsexuals and those who are transgendered, and that
within that attraction I play a submissive/bottom
role.
