The
Alternative Miss Limerick 2001
Featuring Miss Panti, Shirley Temple Bar, Vada Beaux Reves and
Dolly November 17 at 9pm, Glentworth Hotel, Limerick
It
has been almost a year since the Alternative Miss Limerick
burst into being with a splash of glamour and a smattering of
sequins
(the like of which had never been seen in the West of
Ireland). In a memorable finale Miss Lillet Shannon Banks
river danced her way to the title, and a new chapter in
history fell open in the Treaty City.
A
year on, and it is all systems for this years event which is
presented by Yum-Yum and will take place in the Glentworth
Hotel on Saturday November 17. Strengthening Limericks ties
with the Alternative Miss Ireland, this year, the gracious
hostess for the evening will be the beloved Miss Panti. Panti
will guide the contestants through a day wear, swim wear,
evening wear and of course talent round. Panti will be joined
by special guests Shirley Temple Bar, host of RTE’s Telly
Bingo, Veda Beaux Reves, a previous Alternative Miss Ireland
winner and Dolly.
Among
the queens vying for this years crown are Fabula Di
Beaumarchais (Dih - BOW - mahr - SHAY) who is the single
greatest Female Impersonator Cork city will ever know by her
own reckoning. Several failed marriages have left her with
ample support so she fills her days up with shopping, charity
work, random kindness and senseless acts of beauty. Fabula has
also revealed that “Until I discovered the Miracle of Cher,
my upbringing was so blue-collar I thought I was a smurf!!!”.
Also
from Cork comes Vera Von Tramp who has an affection for
adjectives. She describes herself as “Absolutely amazing,
bootylicious, beautiful, caring, cute, delicious, daring,
extravagant, extravert, funny, flirty, gorgeous, gregarious,
horny, humping, indecent, interesting, jokey, jerky, kissable,
kind, loving, lick able, masterful, mothering, nubile,
naughty, open, orgasmic, pretty, pouty, queeny, quick,
ravishing, ruthless, sexy, sassy, tarty, tight, understanding,
unusual, vixen, vampy, willing, wanting, xtra sensual, xtra
rude, youthful, yummy, zany and zestful.”
Travelling
from Galway will be Titney Queers who has a natural liking for
spotlight, and a dislike for corduroy and flannel. Her
ambition is to cleanse, tone and moisturise on a global scale,
to become the ultimate pop tartlet and to promote a universal
sense of taste and flare for alternative types
Limerick
lass Leslie B Anne, the reigning Miss Cosmo likes- men, sex,
sex and drink, she hate women and minerals.
New
to the drag scene and veiled in a layer of secrecy and
intrigue is Angela’s Lashes a lady who insists that the
emphasis is put on ‘Lashes’. Angela is a strict dominatrix
who has a covert gentle side.
All
these and of course many more will be taking to the catwalk in
the Ballroom of the Glentworth on November 17. Doors open 8pm,
show starts at 9pm- followed by Yum-Yum (which is completely
renovated and back in its original home in the basement of the
hotel).
