Bi Day 2000 - September 23rd
Celebrate Bisexuality Day (CBD)

BiDay is a list for people who want to discuss activities and help plan
The
Celebrate Bisexuality Day which will be September 23, 2000. We are
planning
a global celebration and would like everyone to participate in planning
events for this day. This is a day for Bisexuals and BiFriendly
individuals. We are planning for exclusivity, whether in or out of the
closet. This is a day for those who are questioning their sexuality or who
identify as bisexual.
Last year, CBD was a total success. CBD events occurred all over the
world.
A Bi Pride Flag was flown at the ILGA conference in Johannesburg, South
Africa. Bisexuality became more visible and we celebrated in whom we are.
Diversity.
One of the most awesome attributes about the bi community that I admire is
the diversity of each individual in the community. No matter where I go,
when I meet new bis or go to a new bi group, I find beautiful people who
accept one another's diversity with love. We are becoming a family of
choice and each year we grow. I see the bi movement as a force that is
quietly growing in the world.
We are just beginning to realize our power which was evidenced a few years
ago through Equality Begins At Home (EBAH) and last year with CBD. The
bisexual movement has experienced phenomenal growth throughout its
history.
The founders of CBD: Wendy Curry, Michael Page and myself, thank all who
participated in those events. They helped change attitudes and values in
the world, making all sexual orientations, all relationship styles, and
all
gender expressions/identities more accepted as lifestyle options and forms
of individual expression.
The theme for CBD 2000 is Celebrate Bisexual Diversity.
It is a time for creative brainstorming, as we plan events for CBD 2000.
We
will be offering a prize to the individual or group that plans the most
diverse event. So, whether you do a solo celebration or celebrate with a
group, post your ideas and plans here. All plans posted on the CBD
listserv
up to September 9th will be considered as contestants for the prize. The
winner will be announced on September 16th, one week before CBD 2000.
I will be updating you in the next few weeks. Already, people all over are
starting work on plans for CBD 2000 events. Spread the word to bis and
bifriendly individuals and lets make CBD 2000 an even greater success.

posting your ideas and plans on the BiDay listserv, you will automatically
be entered for the prize for the most diverse celebration.

PS In Brisbane we having a Glam and Glitter Gala Night for our Bar Bi on
the 23rd. It should be a great night with prizes, daning and all. I am
aware of events happening in Canada, England, Netherlands and all over the
USA. Hope you "celebrate" in your own special way on the 23rd.
PSS The Australian Bisexual Network was awarded the prize mentioned above
for our Glam & Glitter theme. Seems they liked the thought of "glittery"
bisexuals. :-)
