A great little bar - very friendly, and good place to go if
you're on your own. John behind the bar (who also manages
Rainbow House B&B) is very friendly, as are the locals.

Galway's
longest running gay bar celebrated it's first birthday at
halloween. Its
located on Raven Terrace which is just off Dominic Street and
a stones throw
from the cith centre.
The
bar is small and I've often heard it called "a box"
due to any lack of dividing
walls etc. That said, it's pretty nice for it. It has a an
African theme-
confined to a few masks and voodoo dolls dotted around. Tables
are huge and
so can help in making conversation!
The bar staff
are top notch. Really friendly and give alot of great info on
gay-friendly
restaurants. They're are probably the main reason people keep
coming back.
Entertainment
provided by the juke box which gets tiresome as people seem to
have away of
picking the same song over and over! Can be irritating!
Pretty dead on
weeknights except for Tuesday when the NUIG PLUTO group meets
up for drinks.
Weekends are popular and there's a cocktail happy hour on
Saturdays from
9.30 to 10.30. They've a great menu to choose from and they
are all fantastic!
With the
opening of Strano just up the road, the crowd seems to be
getting a bit
older. But maybe that is no bad thing!
All in all a
very nice bar with a friendly door and bar staff. My only
major gripe is that it can get VERY smokey as there isn't alot
of ventilation.

On arriving
everybody looks for the door opening, to see what goods the
street has brought in. Mostly arrive in Couples and ages vary
from 20-50, with the odd lesbian here.Very dark and can get
smokey.Jukebox was constantly been played, then again its the
only music. Bartenders (male and Female) very friendly and
very helpful. Certainly no problem to find a date. I asked a
guy where was the nightclub to go to and he informed Liquid in
Salthill.

This is a nice little pub along the river. There was a warm
Inviting fire going and people were setting around by the fire
which I thought was so cool! We have nothing like that in the states!
The Bartender was very helpful in giving us directions around town and to
another club that had a jazz band playing...I forget the name of the club,
but it was not a gay club but was gay friendly and there was a mixed crowd.
Zulu's was a very inviting place, complete with plenty of
conversation and a juke box playing in the background. We were really made to feel at home here.

Zulu's is a mixed bar, tends to be more gay than straight, its a Small sized bar layed out with
African decor (hence the name). Busiest at weekends (Friday thru Sunday). Saturday always brings a packed crowd which
differs from week to week (usually attracts an older crowd)
The bar is open 7 nights a week with bingo nights held several times thruout the month. Zulu's is
a smokers delight, the small size of the bar coupled with the lack of ventilation can build up
a very smokey atmosphere.
