REVIEW
As it turned out as soon as we got to Zulu we picked up a leaflet which
told us everything we needed to know. Zulu and Strano were both good,
but in a very different way than Dublin. Gubu they werent. But the people
seemed to be in great form which gave a very good atmosphere, and it
wasn't hard to get chatting. Upstairs in Strano was probably my favourite,
though I didnt manage to get onto a couch. Ah well, I'm well used to propping
up bars anyway.
The launch party in Black Box night club was simply fantastic! I havent
had such a good night in a long time. Great party atmosphere, good music,
colourful stage shows and excellent lights! In fact I was smiling so
much and having such a good time my mate kept asking me if I'd popped a pill
when he wasnt looking :-) Well done to everybody involved. What was the
story with the strip show though? Simulated straight sex seemed a bit
out
of place at Gay pride. Celebrate diversity I guess ;-)
Next day, after the aspirin, we headed into town for a mooch round the
markets etc. Galway is so beautiful when the sun shines. We had a
lovely chilled out morning and then moved on to Eyre Square for the march. I
have to say well done to everybody on the march. Its a totally different
thing to march down busy shopping streets in small numbers proclaiming your
pride than it is to join the extravaganza that is the Dublin march.
So that was it. A quick - but very bland - pizza in Fat Freddys and it
was off home again.
