How to
pack a suitcase |
First of all, if you can get
a suitcase with wheels you'll be saving yourself a lot of
trouble. Otherwise you'll be lugging around a heavy suitcase and
your arms will get tired.
Only pack what you truly need. Count the number of days that
you'll be staying and take just enough clothes for each. If
you're going to a hotel, you may even take less clothes and use
the laundry facilities.
Pack your shoes in plastic bags and put the soles facing the
bottom of the suitcase (the bottom when the suitcase is standing
upright) - the tops of the shoes facing the handle. Fold pants
and put those in first, alternating the tops of the pants (one
to the left side, one to the right side, one to the left side,
etc). Then put shirts/shorts. Put the lightest stuff on the top.
For toiletries, if you don't have a separate case to put them
in, then pack them in plastic bags as well so they don't get all
over your clothes in case your suitcase gets moved around a bit.
Write up a packing list of all of the things you are bringing
with you, and then when you are ready to pack to return, use
that list as a guide to make sure you haven't left anything
behind.
