Pride Foam Party + Pride Launch
Monday 18th and 25th June 2001 

Club Mono undoubtedly has one of the largest dance floors on the Dublin gay scene, so where better to launch the Pride press launch and official foam party. Both events were equally well attended. The press launch was kicked off by Izzy Kamikazi and Declan McGreggor. 

First act on stage was Miss Misfortune, who didnt make much of the lighting, as it really didn't suit a single performer, it is definitly more aimed towards a larger disco act. Dj fluffy began spinning the tracks but the uptake on the dance floor was very slow. People were waiting for what was to come. 

Some excited clubbers had heard the rumour that Samantha Mumba might make an appearance to launch Pride so they stayed glued to their seats by the door for a glimpse. She arrive around 1.15 - much to my annoyance having left the venue 15 minutes earlier as it was a school night. This also meant I missed the event listed on Gay-Ireland.com "A deeper love" a performance commisioned by baby 2k1. 

The foam party too was another late affrair - it didnt kick off until almost 1 am - not good for us early risers. Still it was worth the wait - there was only one foam cannon however this was enoguh to ensure I ruined my clothes and shoes (all part of the fun) (tho' try explaining that to the grumpy taxi driver who wasnt too keen on me sogging his upholstery). The golden rule for foam parties is bring old shoes and jeans. The people dance floor loved it - with a long summer ahead lets hope it's not the last of the foam parties (lets just make them earlier) The Man from Delmonte is an early bird, during the working week. !!
