Before the big splash, that was titanic, there was a low budget movie
from an upcoming, ‘Leonardo DiCaprio’ named, ‘Total Eclipse’.
A movie that charted the tragic and inspirational love story between the two poets Paul Verlaine and
Arthur Rimbaud.

As his marriage begins to collapse, Verlaine is drawn further
into a productive but painful relationship with Rimbaud, who continues to
try and push him into an honest confrontation of
himself and his values. Frustration and torment turn to violence as Verlaine finds it increasingly
difficult to make honest decisions about himself.

The movie contained several sex scenes, some of which caused a small amount of
embarrassment to DiCaprio when his mainstream Hollywood career took off.
The story has been transformed into a play, produced by ‘Cowardly Lion’ and written by ‘Christopher Hampton’ –
The play ran at the Andrews Lane Studio
from 26th - 31st March 8pm. There are now talks to travel with the play - stay
tuned to Gay-Ireland.com for more info on this.
