Irish cinema has been churning out comedies
by the bucket load this past year, we've had “about adam”, “an everlasting piece” and now 'the most fertile man in Ireland'.
The central character is the nerdy Eamonn Manley (Kris Marshall) a red haired version of
Jarvis Cocker, he works in a dating agency in Belfast across the road from the local funeral parlor where the girl of his dreams works.
The movie is predictable enough, thanks to its title, Eamonn discovers that he has the highest sperm count in Ireland and is in high demand
with local women who want to have a child. Bizarrely, he gets mixed up with a paramilitary organization that hears of his talent and want him to help populate
future members. The movie starts off quiet fast but dips towards the end when the laughs are replaced with several non relevant sub plots.
Definitely worth seeing, if only to giggle at Kris Marshall in his smurf blue Y-Fronts.
