Labour Leader comments on the possibilites of a gay Taoiseach

The leader of the Labour party 'Ruairi Quinn TD' has issued a statement (dated may 15th 2001) on the understanding of diversity required in a changing society. The statement was prompted by  recent events involving Cardinal Connell not acknowledging The Taoiseach's partner.

Mr. Quinn believes that one day Ireland may have a gay or lesbian Taoiseach and in
future the nature of our society will become racially, culturally and religiously more diverse.

That gay show

There were *lights*, *Camera's* and pleanty of action as the scene in Dublin turned into the location for a documentary on 'That Gay Show' - a new magazine style show for gay men, which airs on 'BBC Choice' on Fridays.

We bumped into the crew in the George on Friday - who seemed to be having as much fun as the people on the dance floor.
The energetic TV crew also headed to the front lounge, who had posters up outside the venue advising customers that there would be a TV crew present.

'That Gay show' has been branded with a no-holds-barred approach and that little extra something… That Gay Show is filmed on location around the UK
(and this week Ireland) with a team of five presenters, it boasts regular items on fashion and lifestyle; music and clubbing; television, cinema and culture.

There’s also a weekly celebrity interview and some decidedly off beat comedy. Plus, American comic Scott Capurro presents a myriad of delights from gay life in America.
For more information tune into BBC Choice, Fridays at 21.30
