Review of
George Drink Prices |
|
Last week we
received a short review about the George, the review was too short
to print on the website but it did complain about the prices of
alcohol in the George, which is a feeling viewed by many about the
majority of pubs in Dublin. Yesterdays Irish Independent
(06/02/01) carried a feature which reviewed the prices of alcohol
in Dublin and had included interview with 'Liam O'Dwyer', Cheif
Executive of Capital bars, 'owners of the George' .
Mr. O'Dwyer
defended the high costs of alcohol in Dublin, saying it cost over
£4m to establish a licensed premises in Dublin. He admitted that
the price of a pint can reach £3 in some of his premises.

Wicklow's
first gay meeting |
|
"Amach
Wicklow" is a new organisation for lesbian, gay and bisexual
people, starting on Thursday, 15th February in the "Blue
Room", upstairs in the Grand Hotel in Wicklow town.
Though
the title of the organisation describes its Wicklow base, people
from Dublin, Wexford and all other neighbouring counties (or
further afield!) are more than welcome to attend.
One
of the organisers Roy, is expecting a large turnout, "I have
met some 'out' people in Wicklow town and I'm hoping for a
reasonably good attendance. Depending on how successfully we get
off the ground, we would hope to host workshops at the monthly
meetings and maybe organise social events and a disco after a year
or so.".
The
event is advertised in a local newspaper and has also had coverage
in GCN and online.
