The union of Students in Ireland host an annual training event on LGB issues known as 'Pink Training'. This years event is hosted at GMIT (Galway Mayo Institute of Technology) Galway, from the 26th to the 28th of October.

The event is a weekend of participatory workshops and information modules aimed primarily at LGB students. The aims are to Inform - Empower - Network. Through the information provided, attendees will gain a broader understanding of issues that specifically impact LGB students. Through the participatory, solution-based format & energised atmosphere, those attending will be empowered to effect positive change in their own colleges. This is aided by the opportunity for networking with students from many other colleges, exchanging ideas & opening the way for co-operative ventures. 

Pink Training provides LGB students with a safe, non-judgmental space to talk openly about the issues that affect them. Here is a sample of comments from PT 2000 feedback: “I’m not the same person I was on Friday”, “First nerve-wracking, then eye-opening & then mind-blowing”, “Mad craic!”, It has proved to be an invaluable source of peer support for many.

Modules at Pink Training include:
Coming Out, Queer Culture, Campus Activism, Violence in LGB Relationships, Transsexual Transgender Issues, LGB & the Law.
